TROOPS of 7 Division of the Nigerian Army in Yobe state have uncovered a bomb-making factory and other arms and ammunitions at the Gujba Fertilizer Blending plant, during a two-day military operations against Boko Haram terrorists group in the Gujba Buni/Yadi-Bara Forests axis.

armyTROOPS of 7 Division of the Nigerian Army in Yobe state have uncovered a bomb-making factory and other arms and ammunitions at the Gujba Fertilizer Blending plant, during a two-day military operations against Boko Haram terrorists group in the Gujba Buni/Yadi-Bara Forests axis.

Four soldiers lost their lives in the course of clearing the terrorists in Buni Yadi town.
Director, Defense Information, Maj-Gen. Chris Olukolade, in a statement yesterday in Abuja, said that the ongoing cordon and search by troops in Buni Yadi/Gujba Local Government Area led to the discovery of the Bomb Making factory.
The statement also reads in part: “A large quantity of IEDs, including those commonly used by suicide bombers were recovered from the site.

“The factory, which was located in a fertilizer company, has also converted some of the materials therein for production of all types of IEDs. Troops are still evacuating the materials, which include a large quantity of suicide bomber vests from the facility to their base. It is believed that the heavy calibre bomb used in blowing up the bridge between Damaturu and Buni Yadi was produced in the factory.”

On how towns were recaptured, the statement said: “The terrorists were
sacked from Buni Yadi after a military assault that was conducted last Saturday. The troops advance was delayed by the series of IEDs planted on the highway leading to Buni Yadi.

Four soldiers died from such IEDs in the course of the operation to clear terrorists from the town.
“This discovery is expected to degrade the capability of terrorists in the production of explosives, which they have been using lavishly in the area until they were dislodged from their stronghold.”

Olukolade said: “The troops advance was delayed by the series of IEDs planted on the highway leading to Buni Yadi. Four soldiers died from such IEDs in the course of the operation to clear terrorists from the town,” he said.

The feeling within the military is that this discovery and demobilization of the factory, will “degrade the capability of terrorists in the production of explosives, which they have been using lavishly in the area until they were dislodged from their stronghold.

Who owns the fertilizer factory ?

Fertilizer is produced from natural gas. We have a national fertilizer company in ONNE from where most of the fertilizer is distributed all over the country. It is well known that NPK fertilizer is used extensively in making improvised explosive device and that is what this place have been doing. So the question then is who owns this company? who have been supplying them with fertilizers and who have been supplying them with the materials to detonate the explosives used in the explosive devices that have killed and maimed thousands of Nigeria. This should not just be swept under as if they just shut down a factory….the supply lines, money, financiers and the recruitment facilities for the merchants of death need to be looked into…Nigerians and the world are waiting…
