What is your assessment of the state of security in the country?
For a country like Nigeria, security issues are always going to be challenging, whether they are terrorist threats in the North or geopolitical challenges in the South, this is why a comprehensive platform is needed for public and private stakeholders to converge, network and discuss how these challenges can be best tackled. The ongoing exhibition by Securex offers this network and also provides Security officers the opportunity to learn and purchase the latest solutions and products to help secure Government, companies and individuals in the country.

In recent times, there have been cases of kidnapping, raping and other vices, what can be done to eradicate or curtail it?
Eradication of these kinds of crimes is almost impossible but prevention can be improved. Fortunately, this year’s conference focuses on ‘National Security In A Boundary less World: 21st Century Solutions To Nigeria’s Insecurity.’ This will see panelists discuss and advise on specific solutions to help tackle these issues. As Nigeria’s population continues to grow with an estimated population of 450 million by 2050, it is important that all stakeholders including security, military, political, civil society and more, come together to discuss solutions that will curb current and future threats while ensuring stability in the country.

Every year we consult with leading members of the industry to put together a cohesive programme of conference sessions that will not only inform Securex visitors, but also educate them. In the current industry climate, with this transition into a new digital era, companies across board are facing brand new threats and it is our goal to provide valuable insights into how to protect themselves.

What is your advise to the government?
Our advice is to ensure they are working and cooperating with the private sector as much as possible. Also, by sharing intelligence with other nations in the fight against crime and terrorism.

What is the importance of the ongoing event?
This is the ninth edition of Securex West Africa and we are excited about it as it is the No.1 trade platform for manufacturers, suppliers and end users across the West African security market, offering a unique opportunity to reach and engage the local security market both at a national and international level.

This year, we’re pleased to have our best ever line-up of exhibitors and speakers, including His Excellency Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Zubairu Muazu, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police and John Bray, Consul General US Government in Nigeria.
With more than 75 exhibitors, visitors can expect to come away with a well-rounded overview of the latest trends the industry is experiencing; with some of the market’s top brands showcasing their products and solutions.
