A while ago, I got the chance to have a short chat with one of the women in the Her Network community who felt “stuck” and “unaccomplished” compared to her peers. She lamented and, in her words, said: “I feel like I haven’t accomplished anything… my mates seem to be doing so much better even though at some point, I used to be popping!”

At first, I laughed so long and so hard and she didn’t find it funny that I was amused. I had to get the laughter out of my system and try to make her understand these three things I am about to share with you.

Your Lane: Right from your birth into this world, your lane has been created and your purpose on earth has been assigned to you. Just like any other lane, it will never be all smooth and topsy-turvy free all year, all seasons, which is why we must stick to our lane, fix the issues that arise along the way and keep moving forward. What we should try not to let happen is take our focus away from our lane such that, we get on someone else’s lane, hoping it will somehow lead us somewhere which it will, but guess what? No fulfilment because the lane that’s not yours will take you nowhere.
Your Race: You know what they say about the race not being to the “Swift”? There are no truer words.

Your Pace: Don’t run yourself into a panic attack because you assume the faster the pace, the more achievements in your name. Pace yourself, what’s yours will come… just keep it moving, keep on putting in the work and stay consistent.I hope as we wrap up this month and welcome the new month of October, you apply laser focus to your goals. Don’t look to the left or to the right or over your shoulder. Stay focused, keep the faith and remember that nobody will “pop” 24/7, 365 Days. The way this life has been set up… there will be highs and there will be lows but your highs will be wayyyy more than the lows.

Just be easy on yourself and everything will fall in place, in due time!Nkem Onwudiwe is the founder of Her Network – A Global Inspirational and Lifestyle Platform created to inspire and encourage all women to stand in their greatness and set real-life examples by living their truth.
