Founder, African Women Power (AWP) Network, Mary Olushoga launched the AWP Network Vendor Initiative in collaboration with ShopRite Nigeria on July 15, 2020. Over 2,500 vendors applied to the programme.

The competitive programme only accepted 100 participants. The goal of the vendor initiative is to increase the number of women entrepreneurs who supply to ShopRite Nigeria.

The AWP network Vendor programme is a capacity building programme for local vendors seeking professional guidance regarding best practices and guidelines to become vendor suppliers.  The vendor programme will provide a real life opportunity for women entrepreneurs in Nigeria to get their products out into the marketplace. Vendors are also provided the opportunity to pitch their products for consideration as a supplier to various programme retail and institutional partners.

“Nigeria needs more success stories, this is why the AWP Network deems it important to support women entrepreneurs to facilitate the rise of manufacturing, innovation and entrepreneurship. This we believe will help to reduce Nigeria’s high unemployment rate. We truly believe that this programme is great for Nigeria’s community and economic development.”

To date, the programme has hosted several expert speakers including Habeeb Gbenle, Investment Associate at Lofty Inc. Capital Management; Ini Abimbola, founder of ThistlePraxis Consulting Limited; Funkola Odeleye, co-founder of DIY Law Nigeria; Jessica Pinard, Raw Materials Specialist; Chinedu Enekwe, founder of Aux21 Capital and Annabel Kamuche, Managing Director at Nicert Limited.
