Yellow house emerges winner at The Pillars Maiden inter-house sports

Yellow House recently emerged winners of the maiden inter-house sports competition of The Pillars Private Schools, Irawo, Ikorodu, Lagos State.

During the event, also used as the grand finale of the schools’ 10th year anniversary, Red House came second, while Blue House and Green House emerged third and fourth position respectively.

From the march past to the track and field events, the pupils entertained their parents, guests and well-wishers with the display of their skills and talents, which excited and delighted them.

In her speech, Head of school, Alhaja Sefiat Abiodun Isiaka, expressed her joy. She said she was particularly happy, because since the school was established 10 years ago, it has succeeded in contributing to the development of both the pupils and community.

She explained that the school embarked on the sporting competition due to the fact that sport is very essential to developing not only the pupils’ mind but also their bodies, as well as, teach them the true spirit of competition and being members of team, which need to work together to achieve an objective.

She advised government at all levels to encourage sport at school level, by sponsoring athletic competitions and providing sporting facilities, and sporting centres, where athletes can develop themselves.

Isiaka also urged government to sponsor pupils’ participation in national and international sporting competitions to expose them and win laurels for the country.
