Rector, Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Obafemi Omokungbe, has pledged to reinstate the institution’s Student Union Government (SUG).

He made the promise during an interactive session with the executives of the National Association of Nigeria Student (NANS), who visited the college recently.

NANS delegates had during the visit expressed concern about the institution’s students not being represented in NANS. They appealed to the management of the college to work towards ensuring that YABATECH’s students are reinstated into the association.

Responding to their plea, Omokungbe stated that SUG has been banned before his assumption in office. “YABATECH is not the only institution that is having issues with SUG but asides that, my administration is making good efforts to restore SUG in the college and the process is at an advanced stage,” he said.

He added that the students of the college are actively participating internally in the administration of the college, as they have representatives at both students’ welfare committee and the student’s disciplinary committee of the management.

Omokungbe further advised the executive of NANS to educate their members on the dangers of cultism and encourage them to shun evil and other vices.
