Islamic organisations in the country have been urged to hold regular workshop and seminars for their clerics to update their knowledge and refresh their understanding of the Holy Qur’an and teaching of the holy Prophet Mohammed.

An Islamic scholar and lecturer at Lagos State University, LASU, Ojo, Dr. Saheed Timehin, gave this advice at the 2018 annual conference of the Young Muslim Brothers and Sisters of Nigeria, YOUMBAS held in Lagos.

Timehin stressed the need for a forum where clerics would chart a way forward and learn from one another in order to harmonise their doctrines and ideologies of Islam to the benefits of the society.

He called for better working relationship among Islamic groups describing as sine qua non to the development of humanity.

The National Chairman of Young Muslim Brothers and Sisters of Nigeria (YOUMBAS), Alhaji Tajudeen Abubakar, said the conference was organised to educate members on the tenets of Islam with a view to practicing the religion in line with the dictate of Prophet Mohammed (SAW).

Abubakar said the theme of this year’s conference- “Towards Harmonious Coexistence among Islamic Groups” was apt to unify the groups and foster cordial relationship among brothers and sisters, quoting the holy prophet’s saying that, “Muslims are brothers and sisters and they must unite for the progress of the society”.

The Director of Publicity and Research, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdul-Kareem, called on Nigerians to co-exist peaceful with one another irrespective of religious, ethnic or political differences.

Abdul- Kareem noted that it’s an atmosphere of peace and harmony that the desired development could be attained.

He said that Nigerians must desist from act capable of causing political unrest or breakdown of law and order.

Abdul-Kareem said that next year’s elections must be taken with ease, saying that the electorate should conduct themselves orderly in selecting their leaders devoid of violence pointed out that it’s Almighty God that crowns people.
