In order to enrich the practice and mastery of law within and outside Nigerian courts and classrooms, Lagos lawyer, Olumide Babalola has published a law dictionary.

The publication, titled, “Babalola’s law dictionary of judicially defined words and phrases”, he said, was compiled to fill the gap he noticed in existing law dictionaries.

Babalola, who said the dictionary is linked to Nigerian definitions, explained that adding value to the legal profession was his major motivation.

In addition to the publication, the lawyer is organizing a quiz competition for young lawyers. He said: “In a bid to deepen the culture of reading and knowledge of legal terminologies among young Nigerian lawyers, we have set up this annual national quiz competition strictly for the participation, benefit and welfare of young lawyers between zero and seven years post-call.”

According to him, the objective is to deepen the knowledge, study and discourse of legal terminologies among young lawyers, serve as another platform for continuing legal education, reward the study and improved knowledge of legal terminologies and serve as an avenue to encourage and improve the welfare of young lawyers.

According to him, there will be cash prizes and one year subscription of electronic law report to be won and potential career opportunities open to the successful participants.

To be eligible, Babalola said a participant must have been called to the Nigerian bar, paid bar practicing fees for 2018, paid NBA dues for 2018 and purchased a copy of the dictionary because all the questions would be set from there. Participants would have to visit www.bldictionary.com to enter for the quiz, which runs from March 10 to March 31, 2018, while the competition holds June 1, 2018 in Lagos high court foyer, Igbosere.
