It is estimated that over 60 per cent of Nigerians are at risk of heart related diseases, which is the leading cause of deaths worldwide. Majority of Nigerians are unaware of the risk associated with heart related diseases. To this end, the walk became necessary to sensitise Nigerians on the need to maintain a healthy heart as well as encourage them to engage in physical exercises regularly.

Speaking at the event, Brand Manager, Disha Argawal stated that the brand is focused on promoting healthier lifestyles among its valued consumers and the society at large.

“Our decision to introduce a heart and health friendly product a few years ago, was borne out of our observation that substandard and adulterated oil have for long remained an item, regularly consumed by many, who are mostly unaware of the numerous side effects, such as: obesity, hypertension (the most common lifestyle ailment), heart disease and cancer to mention few; while the cholesterol found in the oil could increase the risk of stroke and blocked arteries. The oil, as expected of good quality oils, contains zero trans-fat and cholesterol, which makes it very healthy for consumption”. She added.

Executive Director of the Nigerian Heart Foundation, Dr Akinloye Kingsley noted that heart related disease is a leading cause of death in the world today, while stressing on the need for people to pay closer attention to what they consume, he urged people to imbibe the culture of engaging in regular physical exercise to live healthier lives.
