The 22nd edition of the yearly pre-Ramadan Lecture of the University of Lagos Muslim Alumni (UMA) will hold on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at the university main auditorium, Akoka, Lagos beginning from 10am.

Topic of discussion is The Muslim between the Ideal and the Contemporary Perception to be anchored by two guest speakers: Prof. Yusef Waghid of University of Stellenbosch, South Africa; and Shaykh Muhammad Rabiu Adebayo Abdul-Malik, Founder/Director, Darul-Ifta’ wan-Najaat Arabic Institute, Oworonsoki, Lagos State.

Another highlight of the lecture is the presentation of UMA Post-graduate Scholarship Award to successful applicants who are mainly M.Sc. and Ph.D. candidates.

Regarded as one of the remarkable programmes of UMA, the pre-Ramadan lecture has, in the past two decades, grown to become a central aspect of the Ramadan Programme of the South-Western Nigeria particularly the university communities in the geo-political zones with attendance ranging from the university management to government functionaries and members of various strata of the society.

Over the years, UMA has distinguished itself as an association of Muslim graduates of the University of Lagos, providing a platform for continued interaction among its members and for the pursuit of noble goals that may impact positively on the alma mater in particular and the society at large.
