‘UBTH trains 250 doctors from hospitals nationwide’

The Chief Medical Director (CMD), University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Prof. Michael Ibadin has said the tertiary health institution recorded more human and infrastructural development in his tenure as CMD just as he disclosed that UBTH is currently training over 250 doctors from other hospitals across the country to meet the nation’s health needs. Ibadin said this great feat was made possible because of the quality of personnel and equipment in the hospital, as he also described his tenure as most fulfilling and transparent. Briefing newsmen at the weekend in Benin City, during a tour of projects executed by his administration, Ibadin scored himself over 95 percent across board in terms of human capital and infrastructural development.

According to him, the hospital has recorded verifiable achievements in infrastructure, human capital development and administrative transformation under his leadership.

Presenting his scorecard as part of activities lined up to herald his exit from office as the most performing CMD ever in the history of the hospital, Ibadin said the hospital has been repositioned, re-engineered and reinvigorated during his meritorious service to humanity and as CMD. Ibadin said he built several modern medical complex, shops, fire service station and administrative offices in different departments, purchased 30 vehicles from internally generated revenue and purchased additional two vehicles from Federal Government allocated resources. He added that apart from physical structures comprising wards, units and department, which were completed and fully equipped, also noted that his tenure as CMD also witnessed massive human capital development.

“As at the last record I have, we have sent 38 doctors abroad. These are legacies those people who benefited cannot deny it and the statistics and records are there. There are certain things we have done that it will be difficult for anybody to reverse, no matter how malevolent the person is. The structures are there; the structures of governance are there. We have changed a lot of things that you cannot reverse them,” Ibadin said.
