The Will is about the use of the mind. The Will provides the mechanism of how the mind is manipulated to achieve results. For the mind to function effectively it has to be grounded on the Will that dwells on clear methodology of intelligence; meaning the clear understanding of how cause and effect are connected to achieve desired results.

The cardinal importance of the Will is highlighted in the teaching of some revered religious personalities. Actually the tenet of Islam is submission to the Will of God and Jesus in His Lord’s prayers said: ‘Thy Will be done on earth as it is in heaven.’

As I said in my previous write up, if man should concentrate more on the understanding of the Will, rather than trying to make sense out of religion, religious conflicts will be a thing of the past or drastically reduced to its minimum. This is because the mind would have been properly focused to know what kind of relationship he has with God, and he would come to knowledge that, that relationship is in the proper understanding of the functions of the Will. Then, the statement that man is made in the image of God according to the scriptures will be fully appreciated.

When Jesus said: ‘Father not My Will but Your Will’, the implication of this is that both man and God have Will Power. Another important thing from the statement is that man in any given situation must understand the technicalities of both the Will of God and man, and also, for man to align his Will to God’s Will. This simply was what Muhammad came to establish as the fundamental truth of religion, which he called Islam, which he explained as the submission to the Will of God.

According to Muhammad, Islam is the only true religion that binds humanity together. When human beings begin to develop intelligence principles, then they will be moving towards constructive approach of solving problems because problem solving is about the constructive application of the Will. It is not dependent on sentiments or cultural parochialism. It is rather a scientific approach and true scientific approach to anything is about the application of intelligence in the understanding of the situation or problem.
