…Sylva unfolds four-point programme
THE All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the Bayelsa election, Chief Timipre Sylva has unveiled his blue print to transform the state if he is elected.
Before an enthusiastic audience of party supporters, stakeholders and private sector operatives, Sylva, a former governor of the state rolled out a four-pronged programme that he said would liberate the people of the state from poverty and fear
Chief Sylva said the programme include plan to enhance the revenue and diversify the economy, job and wealth creation, wellbeing and security and effective public service.
In a presentation that lasted about 35 minutes, Chief Sylva said his programmes are integrated and designed to affect the lives of Bayelsans at all levels. He said that the people of the state have keyed into the change mantra of the APC and are looking forward to a meaningful leader.
“Bayelsans are yearning for a change as 99 percent of Bayelsans are not feeling the impact of governance in the state,” he noted. More than ever before, the need for a change in guard is now urgent to stop the bleeding, reposition the state to deliver high-quality democratic dividends to the citizenry and pull the people out of poverty.”
On the first pillar, he said it would entail agricultural development, infrastructure renewal and tourism. A diversified economy would put Bayelsa State on the right track, he said. His job and wealth creation are expected to focus on education, trade and services as well as youth development. On wellbeing and security, he noted that the core areas include health care, peace and conflict resolution and the environment. Speaking further, he said he was ready and that Bayelsans are ready.
Earlier the Head of his Campaign Organisation and Minister of State for Agriculture, Senator Heineken, praised the candidacy of Sylva and expressed confidence that about 75 percent of Bayelsans have indicated the zeal to vote out incumbent Governor Seriake Dickson in less than a month.
Goodwill messages were delivered by a wide range of supporters and party leaders with sensational singer Omawunmi gracing the stage with a few of her cardinal music.
