The president, National Association of University Students (NAUS), Felix Ijegalu has faulted the rejection of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) urging them to accept the payment system and focus on curbing corruption in the nation’s institutions.

Ijegalu enjoined the union leadership to focus on how varsity funds like the Tertiary Education Fund (TEFTFUND) are being mismanaged by the institution’s managers.

He described ASUU’s opposition to the payroll system as selfish, pointing out that IPPIS was introduced by the Federal Government to checkmate irregularities and payment of ghost workers in public organisations.

Ijegalu alleged that some university lecturers are being paid as full-time lecturers in different institutions, which is illegal.

The student leader urged the university teachers to settle their grievance with the Federal Government and call off their strike in the interest of the teeming students.
