StarTimes announces Kanu as Africa Brand Ambassador

FORMER Super Eagles star players, Kanu Nwankwo and Jonathan Akpoborire were last week unveiled as Africa brand ambassadors for StarTimes, a pay television platform.

Speaking at the event, Director, NTA-StarTimes Enterprise, Mr. Maxwell Loko, said that both NTA and StarTimes is proud to appoint super stars as its new brand ambassadors with Kanu projected to be the face of StarTimes as the days roll by, reason he said Kanu would be featured in the station’s commercials, be part of special programmes and events of the company as well as be part of analysis of matches.

He said that the plan is to make the partnership a long one though starting with a three years agreement. Speaking specifically about Kanu, he said he is a great ambassador of Nigeria and role model many young Nigerians look up to and which are the criteria that gave birth to the choice of Kanu for the partnership. He also said that they are happy that Kanu accepted to be the brand ambassador and help promote the brand across Africa.

Loko promised that through the partnership, StarTimes hopes to support Kanu Heart Foundation among other things outside just promoting the brand acceptability.

Responding, Kanu said he is proud to be the Africa face of the brand that has put smiles on the faces of Nigerians because immediately StarTimes came into Nigeria, the story of pay TV changed, especially taking care of the masses, which is what he stands for too. “I share with the poor, Kanu and StarTimes share the same vision. Nigeria will migrate to the digital platform and we thank God that we have a brand that will take care of the poor. Tell the whole world that papilo is the bew face of StarTimes, Africa.”

On his part, Akpobirire, who will be the technical analysis for the platforms German bundesliga matches, also said that he was pleased coming on board because it is a company with quality and hopes the quality continues. He also said that he is passionate about the german league where he played for many years before retiring.

The Marketing Director, Dare Kafar, said that the choice of the ambassadors is geared to further served its customers besides on going efforts of acquiring exciting content including plans to acquire better contents in the days ahead.
