Shonekan, others celebrate CMS Grammar School at 157

Eminent products of CMS Grammar School Bariga, Lagos, including former Head of Interim National Government, Sir Ernest Shonekan, Chief Folarin Coker, High Chief Akiolu Disu among others were present at the just concluded 157th Founder’s Day celebration of the school.

The celebration, which climaxed with a thanksgiving service and a dinner at the school’s complex, provided a networking platform for the old boys.

Speaking at the thanksgiving in Lagos, the Lord Bishop, Diocese of Mainland and Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province of Lagos, Most Revd. Adebayo Akinde, described CMS Grammar School as a fruitful van that has produced thousands of successful Nigerians over the years.

Akinde, who was represented by Rt. Rev Nathaniel Ogundipe, identified greed as the major challenge facing leadership in the country.

He urged Nigerians to show love and be generous with one another at this trying times stressing, “Of what value is your money if you have so much and people around you are suffering? We brought nothing into this world and we shall go with nothing,” he stated.

President Old Grammarians’ Society, Mr. Adedapo Fashanu, described the anniversary as a tradition the school has kept for years with the aim of uniting past students of the college at home and abroad.

He thanked the Old Boys for their contributions to the development of the school and urged them not to forget the school.

Fashanu advised the students to emulate the old boys by being dedicated to their studies, urging them to work hard as there was no short way to success.
