Search For Miss Grand Nigeria Begins

The beauty pageant that aims at promoting peace, is an affiliate of the Miss Grand International, which was established in 2013, as an annual international beauty contest by organisation based in Bangkok, Thailand.

The beauty pageant that aims at promoting peace, is an affiliate of the Miss Grand International, which was established in 2013, as an annual international beauty contest by organisation based in Bangkok, Thailand.

Speaking at a media briefing held recently in Lagos to herald the pageant, Loveth Ajufoh, the pageant director informed that the project is committed to the development of mankind, by searching for potential woman to encourage and lead the Stop the war and Violence campaign.

“QLA Nigeria limited has secured the franchise of the Nigerian version of the pageant, (Miss Grand Nigeria) with the approval of Miss Grand International, President, Nawat Itsaragrisil. And we are proud to bring his goodwill message here today,” she said.

Besides reinforcing the overall objective of the programme, Miss Grand Nigeria seeks to promote peace and tourism in Nigeria, while empowering young women to achieve their personal and professional goals, using their beauty, talents and intelligence.

“It is our belief that the event will go a long way in positioning Nigeria women as force to reckon with at the global stage. Meanwhile, we are using this medium to assure Nigeria young ladies that the era of intimidation and exploitation to be part of beauty contest is over. All it requires is commitment, self-confidence and trust in God. We therefore encourage our participants to believe in themselves and bring their best games on.”

Final screening of contestants for Miss Grand Nigeria holds on September 1, 2015, at the Orchid Hotels, Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria, while the Grand Finale is scheduled for Friday September 11t, 2015, at the same venue. The winner will go home with a sum of N1 million cash price, a brand new car and the right to represent Nigeria at the MGI world finals in October 2015 in Bangkok, Thailand.

“We bring in, our years of outstanding experience in pageantry; I was crowned Miss Unilag 2009 and World Miss University Nigeria 2010 and then represented Nigeria at the World Miss University finals in Seoul, South Korea that same year. I was later appointed as a UN student peace emissary. We assure every stakeholder that the contest will run with high degree of professionalism and integrity,” she said.

Apart from providing world-class entertainment for expected physical and broadcast audiences, the event will be great opportunities for companies to further consolidate their position as brand Leaders in Africa.
