BEYOND preaching the scriptures, the Liberation City, a church, has begun moves to ensure that more Nigerians, especially the less privileged, have access to truly clean water as a way of achieving sound health.

The General Overseer, Pastor Chris Okafor, who disclosed this to journalists after a special service at the church’s headquarters in Lagos recently, described clean water as fundamental to healthy living. He spoke in reference to some new technological innovations, NERIOS G3 and PLANETSWATER AWG, that convert wind into water for human consumption as part of the move to make more Nigerians accessible to clean and safe water.

“The atmosphere is packed with moisture. It’s a huge fresh water reserve‎: 13000KM3. This innovative technology is able to turn this moisture into drinking water. These machines convert wind to water that exceeds World Health Organization standard for safe / clean drinking water. No CO2 is released, no ground water or surface water is pumped and the environmental impact is practically nil. The machines suit numerous uses – whether civil or military and ideal in case of emergency. They are eco-friendly and very user-friendly,” the cleric said.

According to Okafor, the church, whose members are already enjoying the water from the machines installed in the Liberation City, is participating in creating awareness to the machines not to make money but purely to boost accessibility to clean water and generate employment opportunities for the youths.

“As a church, we are looking at how to give back to the society.  The function of the church should not just be to build auditorium and collect tithe. There are a lot of graduates in our communities without job and the best way to fight crime is to make people comfortable. If somebody is comfortable, he will not think of crime because he is busy and gainfully engaged.”

According to him, “The Bible says Jesus preached the gospel to the poor and after that also meet their physical needs. In many parts of the world, especially Africa, it is difficult to get drinkable water, not many people can afford clean water to drink. What is packaged in nylon and sold, as pure water is not actually clean.

“This is not just another kind of business but a solution making sure that each family in the rural area and the urban centre get affordable clean water to drink and be healthy.
