Rector pledges continuous academic improvement in college

Rector, Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Femi Omokungbe, has assured students of the college that the management would continue to support programmes that will enhance academic standard and qualitative lecture delivery.

Omokungbe, who gave the assurance during a yearly lecture, exhibition and fundraising ceremony, stated that they have redirected their energy to replicating the industry in the classroom.
He added that they have commenced arrangements for procurement of new equipment in preparation for forthcoming re-accreditation exercise.

“The current administration of the college on its part since inception in March 2018 has embarked on activities that will enhance academic standard, including provision of enabling environment for quality teaching and learning.

“Recently, about 100 new members of staff were recruited to improve the workforce and over 300 staff were sponsored for trainings, workshops and conferences within two years in addition to Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) sponsorship.

On students’ welfare, he said, “Their hostels have been renovated, while efforts are on going to upgrade classrooms, studios and workshops to make teaching and learning more effective.”

The event, themed “Restructuring education and research system for technological advancement,” had speakers like Prof. Olusola Bandele Oyewole and Dr. Laja Adesina.

Dean, School of Technology, Dr. Okolie Nwabueze Peter, appealed to the management to keep striving to improve the college infrastructure, so as to bring the college at par with their contemporaries worldwide.
