With the latest signing of Radisson Blu Niamey in Niger Republic, Radisson Hospitality AB, publicly listed on Nasdaq Stockholm, Sweden and part of Radisson Hotel Group, is set to enter a new African market, with Niger at target.

Radisson Hotel Group today has 90 hotels and 18,000+ rooms in operation and under development across 31 countries in Africa and plans to reach 130 hotels and 23,000+ rooms by 2022.

Billed to open in 2019, the Radisson Blu Hotel Niamey, Niger, will be ideally positioned in the city centre, surrounded by the Presidential Palace, the National Hospital and the City Hall.

The hotel will have unrivalled access into and out of Niamey International Airport, situated just 8km away.

Erwan Garnier, Director, Development, Sub-Sahara Africa, Radisson Hotel Group, said, “Niger is a new country for Radisson Hotel Group to enter and we’ve identified significant potential to expand in this country with three of our brands: Radisson Blu, Radisson and Park Inn by Radisson.

Niamey, the capital city of Niger and a hub in Francophone West Africa, is part of ECOWAS, and will strengthen Radisson Hotel Group’s strategic position in West Africa.

So far, this year, we have signed four hotel deals in the ECOWAS community, indicating our robust growth strategy and commitment to the region. The hotel will lead the market in Niamey as it fills the void of quality internationally branded hotels in the region.”

Husnu Tayanc, Vice President of the owning company, Summa Hospitality, said, “We are excited to partner with Radisson Hotel Group once again on our fourth project after successfully opening hotels in Tripoli, Chisinau and Dakar! Our team looks forward to tackling the challenge of designing and building the hotel in less than 12 months, to meet the scheduled opening date in late May 2019. We believe the hotel, which will have an overall investment of approximately 50million Euros, will be one of the proud face of Niger, while hosting AU-EU Summit in June 2019. The hotel will truly change the hospitality landscape in Niger, creating a real milestone for the industry as the first internationally branded hotel and the first hotel to offer extensive convention and meeting facilities in the country.”

The 194-room hotel will include five different rooms’ types, including stylish presidential and royal suites. The food and drink outlets will also offer a variety of choice, including two restaurants, two bars.

The extensive meeting & events area will span an area of more than 2000 sqm – including a conference room, business center and various meeting rooms. The hotel will also feature a fascinating spa area of 800 sqm, fitness room and open swimming pool.
