Provost tasks government on learning equipment for the physically challenged

Provost, Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka, Dr. Wahab Azeez has appealed to the government to provide special learning equipment for the physically challenged to reduce stress and foster learning.

Speaking at the matriculation ceremony of the Distance Learning Programme (DLP) of the college, Azeez said facilities provided by the government were mainly for the regular people which stands as a barrier for the physically challenged.

He said it is unfair to build schools without putting the physically challenged into consideration.

Although a special centre was opened for the physically challenged, the provost said it is not enough as other challenges may discourage them.

Besides, he lamented that some of the centres lacked essential equipment for some courses thus resulting in low number of admitted students.
Azeez however announced plans to link up with the technical colleges so that facilities could be shared.

“We also want to start physical health education programme and we are making plans to set up facilities for that purpose and also in the area of Information and Communication Technology (ICT),” he added.

The programme director, Dr. Toye Manuwa enjoined the fresh students to adhere to the school’s rules and regulations.

Manuwa said there are many benefits of being a student of DLP such as structured programmes and fees payment

He advised the students to shun bad company, hooliganism, cultism, examination malpractice and other social vices.
