Equity Group Campaigns For Jonathan, Okowa In Delta

THE National leadership of Equity and Justice political group has directed all its members to embark on door-to-door aggressive campaign to drum up support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential and Delta State governorship candidates, President Goodluck Jonathan and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, respectively to their victory in next month’s elections. 

   National leader of the group, Mr. Amechi Okobah, gave the directive at Oghara, while fielding questions from journalist at the flag-off of the state PDP campaign for the elections.

  Okobah, who led members to the campaign rally, said the directive was informed by the need to ensure overwhelming victory for Jonathan and Okowa at the polls.

  He explained that the PDP administration at the state and federal levels have performed excellently in improving the wellbeing of Nigerians, adding that the victory of the PDP at all levels in the election would guarantee the consolidation of the gains so far recorded.   

  Okobah described Okowa as a detribalised Deltan, who is well-equipped with in-depth knowledge of the state and its people and as such, would provide solutions to the multi-dimensional challenges confronting the state. 

  He, therefore, urged the electorate to vote massively for Okowa for the actualisation of the vision of the founding fathers, which he listed as accelerated development, economic prosperity, social justice, peace, security and the growth of the state. 

  In furtherance of the campaign strategy of the group, Okobah explained that members had been mobilised to visit designated strategic locations in the state, including motor parks, restaurants, market and other public places to canvass for votes. 

  The group’s Publicity Director, Deacon Elurinhun Azubuike, admonished Deltans to shun ethnic politics and work towards the promotion of the continued unity, peace and progress of the state.

  He as people of one race and destiny, they should learn to speak with one voice on issues of common political interest.Azubuike said the group would mobilise its two million members from the three senatorial districts to work for the victory of Jonathan and Okowa at the polls.
