Owerri Bar honours police commissioner, senior advocate
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Owerri branch in Imo State, has honoured the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Taiwo Lekanu and Chief Arthur Obi Okafor (SAN) for their contributions in the development of the country.
The awards were presented at the weeklong programme of the branch in Owerri, last week. According to a statement by Owerri NBA chairman, Mr. Lawrence Nwakaeti and the chairman of the Law week committee, Mr. N. A. Nnawuchi (SAN), Lekanu was honoured for his effort in stemming the tide of crime in the state since he assumed office as the State Commissioner of Police, while Okafor was honoured as the Pillar of Sports and philanthropy in the Eastern Bar Forum (EBF).
The association also chronicled the role and contributions of Okafor in the development of NBA and his contribution to the legal profession in general.
“Okafor has served the NBA in many capacities such as Alternate Chairman, Legislative Advocacy Committee of NBA between 2012 and 2014, Chairman of the NBA Resources Committee 2016 and former representative of the NBA on the steering Committee of NEITI Civil Society Platform.
