Some of the graduating students of Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH), who are due for the one-year compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), have called out the management of their institution for not being mobilised in the ongoing exercise.

The students who accused the authority of the university of deliberating scheming them out of the exercise, alleged that “the management decides not to mobilize us due to the forthcoming convocation of the school and because of this, our results were delayed.”

Some students that spoke with The Guardian described the alleged decision of the management as barbaric and cruel.

A student who pleaded to be anonymity said, “I don’t know why our management will be this cruel, they know that even if we are present or not, that its compulsory for us to pay the convocation fee. They just wasted our time for nothing and now we are looking forward to June.”

Another student simply identified as Tolani said, “They decided to delay us, all in the name of convocation, and they know that even if we decide not to come we are still going to pay for the fee. So, what is the point of delaying us for convocation when our mates in other schools have been mobilised’’.

For Rebbecca, “Time is money and must be used judiciously, the month to roundup my service has been shifted unnecessarily due to what the schools see important to them. It is very unfair.”
