Obaseki lauds NBC on best practices

The management of Nigerian Bottling Company Ltd (NBC) has been commended for its community investment and adhering to best practices in the running and operation of its business.

The management of Nigerian Bottling Company Ltd (NBC) has been commended for its community investment and adhering to best practices in the running and operation of its business. This was contained in remarks delivered by the Edo State governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, while embarking on a tour of NBC’s Benin plant in the state capital. Obaseki expressed appreciation to the company for its commitment to expanding its operation in the state, recognising it as a long-term investor in the state.

“This new development serves as a positive indicator and underscores how important Edo State is in the scheme of things – economically,” he said. “As a government, we aim to attract, support and empower law abiding investors by creating a peaceful, secure and safe environment where any form of business can expand and thrive.”

He, therefore, assured that his administration would continue to support NBC to ensure a smooth flow of business activities with the state.

Chairman, Board of Directors, NBC, Ambassador Segun Apata, praised the Obaseki-led administration for the support given to NBC, especially for the enabling environment accorded it since it came on board.

“We are indebted to you for your intervention, Apata said. “Your support to our business has been very invaluable and it is only fitting and proper for you to see what we do and experience our process here in our Benin plant.”

Obaseki was taken on a tour around the plant led by the plant manager, Irene Ugwoke and accompanied by members of the board of directors and staff.

Earlier in the day, the management team of Nigerian Bottling Company Limited paid a visit to the Oba of Benin in his palace to thank him for his leadership role in managing the inhabitants and businesses in the state.

In his remarks, the Oba, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolor, Oba Ewuare II thanked NBC for the visit, adding that he would continue to support any investor who considers indigenes as part of their own, adding, “We will continue to do our best to ensure investors are not discouraged in the state. I want to thank the company and the management team present here today for their desire to continually engage with us and therefore charge them to carry on with business, expand as much as possible and most importantly, carry the people and community in line with its activities. We want to see a significant employment rate of the people of the state.”

The NBC delegation, led by Ambassador Apata, Chairman NBC Board of Directors, comprised Laolu Akinkugbe, Chairman, AG Leventis, Alhaji Ahmed Mantey and, Director, Legal, Public Affairs & Communications, Sade Morgan.
