THE ninth edition of Outdoor Advertising Agency of Nigeria (OAAN) Exhibition and Poster Award has been scheduled for June 25 at Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos. Announcing this in Lagos last week, president of the association, Mr Charles Chijide, said the body hopes to make this edition more successful than previous ones, as there are plans to ensure the event records significant improvement in all aspects.

The OAAN President listed the categories in the award to include Diary Food and Beverages, Alcoholic drinks, Non-Alcoholic, Financial Services, Public Service/Real Estate, Electronics/Electricals, Automobile/Accessories, Household Products, Pharmaceuticals/Cosmetics, Telecoms, Information, Computer and Technology, Grand Poster and Legend of Out-of-Home.

According to him, though the categories cater to all the sectors of the Nigerian economy, the focus would primarily be on those sub-sectors that regularly engage its platforms to advertise their brands.

“To ensure that the vent is highly successful, we have also put in place a formidable Poster Awards Committee, led by our past President, Otunba Kole Ademulegun and I am glad to let you know that the committee is leaving no stone unturned to achieve its set objectives.”

Chijide disclosed that the committee has started work as it has reached out to all creative advertising agencies in the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) fold, requesting them to send in their entries for the awards.

“We are also reaching out to advertisers to sponsor some of the activities and I am glad to let you know that the response has been tremendous. It has been quite positive and highly encouraging.”

Giving an insight into other activities lined up with the Poster award, he said, “This year’s outing will commence with a stakeholders’ Breakfast meeting and interactive forum which would hold a day before the major event.”

According to him, the day of the award will start with an exhibition by the association’s suppliers and partners, thereafter a blue carpet at 5pm which will be followed by a cocktail that will dovetail into the award proper.

To ensure the continuing credibility of the award, he said the panel of judges is made up of individuals of impeccable integrity who are leading professionals and practitioners in the different sectors relevant to advertising practice in the country.

“We have also engaged the services of a leading marketing firm, Marketing Edge Limited, as the Event Marketers to enhance the drive to engender improved and impressive participation.”
