Polio immunisation

Plataeu State Government has said that there has been no outbreak of polio in the state since 2009. Commissioner for Health Dr. Kuden Kamshak, stated this while speaking with journalists on phone.

He said already the state government has begun a new strategy of interstate border immunization that would capture children coming in and out of the state, in an effort to eradicate the polio disease.

He said the interception of children at the border areas has been a success with over 13,000 children being immunized during previous exercises. “Since there was an outbreak of Polio in Borno State last year, the state government deems it necessary to capture children coming in and out of the state, in an effort to eradicate the polio disease.

“Plateau would continue to maintain the trend by ensuring that all children are immunized with oral- polio vaccines. Plateau is proactive as vaccines are well preserved. The 17 local council areas had refrigerators that were solar powered.”
