Ajibefun who stated this during the opening session of the AAUA ‘Humboldt Kollege 2018’, titled, “The role of commercialisation of university-based research results for national development”, said the country is grappling with myriads of economic and social challenges, whose solutions are already documented in research reports that usually accumulate dust on our shelves in different Nigerian universities.

While emphasising on the importance of research to the nation, Ajibefun stated that the institution has established a new model from the concept of ‘publish or perish’ for national development.

The Keynote Speaker, Prof. Abel Olayinka, who talked on “Paradigm shift for university/industry collaboration,” said Lack of sufficient research undermines the very core business of the African universities and undermines sustainable development.

He stated that government and its agencies must develop research infrastructure, and African universities must strengthen research.
