As part of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation-UNIDO-EU-FGN Food Safety Capacity Building Programme for Nigeria, the first Nigerian Food Safety And Investment Forum has been billed to hold between February 7-8, 2017 at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

According to a statement signed by UNIDO Representative & Director Regional Office, Abuja, Chukwuma Ezedinma, the forum will bring together high-level representatives and stakeholders engaged in food safety governance and the food related industries, to address the global governance of food regulatory systems and showcase models and best food safety practices.

It will also focus on new possibilities for partnerships and seek further improvements in food safety and national food safety regulatory systems. The forum will consist of three technical sessions-National and International Food Safety Governance; Nigeria Value Chain Improvements; and Industry Engagement, Investment and Technology in Food Safety.

According to Ezedinma, it is expected that participants will articulate the correlation between latest developments in national policies, as well as, regulatory frameworks, and challenges in food safety.

“As a result, they will be able to identify best practices, further need and areas of industry-wide cooperation in capacity building to ensure safe food at a global level.”
