NBC training centre graduates 32 engineers, technicians

The Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) Technical Training Centre (TTC), last week graduated 18 graduate engineer trainees and 14 technician trainees, in an effort to boost their capacity and functionality.

Speaking at the 25th graduation ceremony in Lagos, managing director of the beverage giant, Mr. Ben Langat, noted that the NBC TTC was established in 1996 to consistently provide a pool of resourceful and competent engineers and technicians, who are in tune with the highly technological operating environment of the beverage industry.

He said the centre designed to continually train and empower technical personnel in the company was also open to young Nigerians who aspire to build sound careers in the industry.

The graduands, fresh university graduates of various engineering disciplines, underwent an 18-month induction and basic bottling training for newly recruited engineers.

The TTC, which supports the Lagos State government in delivering technical training programmes in technical colleges, in 2013, had trainees who collaborated with the state Vocational and Technical Education Board (LASTVEB) to fabricate eight heads of traffic lights in Ikeja, Lagos.

According to Langat, by 2014, the TTC, in addition to basic technical training, included the training of graduate engineers, management trainees, line managers, quality assurance managers, among other managers in its curriculum.

Head, TTC, Mr. Tope Dada, urged the graduands to be committed to their jobs and have a positive attitude towards their employment, as that would make a big difference in their careers.

Dada, advised the graduands not to make their successes a one-time, but an all-time thing, adding that the certificates acquired should serve as a launch-pad to spur them to future achievements.

He said that the graduation was “a culmination of a challenging, but rewarding journey.”
