In response to government’s call for local capacity building to reduce the cost of business operations, a Nigerian firm, Learning Impact NG has presented an electronic newspaper and an e-learning technology to the public.

The e-newspaper vendor provides the complete digital version of Nigerian newspapers to the public in a PDF format delivered each day via an email to subscribers.

At the formal presentation of the electronic newspaper products at the Civic Center, Victoria Island, Lagos, the Group Chief Executive of Learning Impact NG, Mr. Omagbitse Barrow stressed the need for institutions and individuals to make the digital switch. “The deepening of internet penetration, affordability of digital devices and the need to scale learning and reduce the cost of business are critical reasons for embracing digital products,” Barrow said.

According to him, the e-learning courseware are targeted at corporates and institutions seeking to improve the impact of learning at a more affordable cost, and to ensure that traditional classroom training can be supported by rich indigenous interactive computer-based resources that have local content and context, compared to imported e-learning courses that do not create the right connection to Nigerian learners and are currently available at much higher prices.

“The e-newspaper vendor is set to transform the newspaper business in Nigeria. It is a convenient, portable and significantly less expensive alternative to physical newspapers in Nigeria, and provides the full contents of the newspaper in a way that on-line news services are unable to,” he said. According to Barrow, Learning Impact has partnered with some leading Nigerian newspapers to deliver these digital PDF publications and has been able to get a number of leading institutions from all sectors as well as individuals to make the switch.

Also speaking at the event attended by business leaders, the Executive Director, Learning Technologies at Learning Impact NG, Anthony Oni urged the audience to make the digital switch and embrace “Everything Digital” which was the theme of the programme.

The guests had opportunity to sample the e-learning courses that were displayed at the event, interacting with the courseware and getting a feel of the “first indigenous” e-learning content for corporate Nigeria.

Commending the company, and encouraging the digital switch for institutions and individuals, the Executive Director of Cardinal Stone Partners, Mohammed Garuba highlighted the imperative of cost-cutting, more scalable and technology driven learning and convenience of the e-newspaper as some of the key strengths of these products.

The Sales and Distribution Executive of MTN Nigeria, Tsola Barrow lauded the creative technology solutions, especially in these times of great change.
