Media professionals and industry chiefs will honour Mr. Sam Amuka, publisher of Vanguard and life patron of the Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN) with a book launch and lecture that address the future of journalism.

The event holds July 30 at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Victoria Island. The book, Voices from Within: Essays on Nigerian Journalism in Honour of Sam Amuka (2nd edition) takes a critical look at journalism practice today, suggesting the pathway to greater efficiency and impact on society.

Published by Diamond Publications Ltd, it features 22 contributors, all experienced hands from within the media who are committed to its continued growth. To be delivered by the publisher, Business Dispatch, Mr. Ted Iwere, the title of the lecture is Today’s Newsroom, Tomorrow’s Newspaper: How to survive and thrive in the Internet Age.
It is the media’s way of paying tribute to Mr. Amuka’s role and place in the media. Widely called Uncle Sam, Mr. Amuka remains the doyen of Nigerian journalism, who is accessible to all.
