FORMER President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr. Okey Wali, SAN has commended the Law School class ’84, for maintaining the foundation of integrity in spite of the rot that has pervaded the society.

Wali made this remarks when the Nigerian Law School graduate of 1984 converged at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja for their 31 years of being called to the Nigerian Bar, which witnessed the attendance of most of the classmates from Nigeria and across the globe.
Also speaking, the Class Monitor of the Law School Class ’84 and former Director- General of the Nigerian Law School, Dr. Tahir Mamman, said this year’s reunion was exciting and unique in the sense that the class rolled into one the 30th and 31st year’s anniversaries of its admission to the noble law profession.

escribing his set as a gathering of achievers, Dr. Mamman said the law class of 1984 has been able to distinguish and register themselves in various sectors of the society.

“If you check the bench, we have a class member in the Supreme Courts, we have about six members in the Court of Appeal, about 20 are Senior Advocates of Nigeria, some are Chief Judges and very many in the Federal High Court Judges and one of us is now Managing Director PPMC and another one a managing director in one of the segments of the petroleum industry.

“We have quite a number in the National assemblies, the present majority leader; Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila was one of us. We have people who have been senators, former governor, like Alhaji Shemma and Malam Nuhu Ribadu former EFCC boss,” he said.

Earlier in her address, chairman press and publicity sub-committee, Barr. (Mrs.) Kehinde Apampa said the reunion became imperative as majority of the members have not seen in the last 31 years.

According to her, the occasion was a unique opportunity for them to network and reconnect with each other for the first time in 31 years.

It was also recalled that the idea of a reunion for this set of achievers was conceived four years ago when Hon. Justice Roli Harriman, approached Mr. Mike Igbokwe SAN, to discuss possibility of the classmates coming together.
