The Lagos State Secretariat Mosque has unveiled its new executive committee.

The new team has a seasoned civil servant, Dr. Tajudeen Abiodun Afolabi, as chairman; TPL Balogun, first vice chairman; Dr. A/Salam, second vice chairman and Ganiyu Laaisi, general secretary.

Other members are: Engr. Opeifa, assistant general secretary; Ibrahim Abdullah, financial secretary; Fatai Bakare, treasurer; Kazeem Olanrewaju , auditor; Azeez AbdulKarim, male welfare; Alhaja M. Kosoko, female welfare; Hajia Adams, secretary women affairs; Barr. Apena legal officer; Olusesi Azeez, public relations officer; Alhaji B. Ishola, ex-officio 1; Hajia Ramotallai Ajayi, ex-officio 2.

The appointment of the new officers was a major highlight of the yearly general meeting of the mosque, which was held in Alausa.

The mosque also launched its magazine, Al-Irshad(The Guidance) to enlighten members and other worshippers on Islam and the mosque’s activities.

The Shurah Council of the Lagos State Secretariat Community Mosque selected the new executives.

During the selection process, the Council requested that Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to forward names of two nominees each for screening, which was done according to Islamic injunction.

The new chairman, who served in different capacities, including the vice chairmanship position.

During his acceptance speech, Afolabi expressed gratitude to members for the opportunity given to him to serve Allah.

“I promise to work together with this team and other stakeholders for the development of the mosque in particular and Lagos State in general”, adding that fairness, honesty and collaboration will be his watchword, for the benefit of the Ummah and to ultimately earn the pleasure of Allah.
