Nigerians yesterday joined Muslims across the globe to celebrate the successful conclusion of 1442 A.H Ramadan. Reputable Islamic groups, in separate Eid Fitr messages, felicitate with Muslims all over the world on the auspicious occasion of the 2021 Eid al Fitr celebration.

The messages came from Lagos Central mosque, University of Lagos Muslim Community (UMC), Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Daru Dawat Wal Irshad, University of Lagos Muslim Alumni (UMA), The Companion (an association of Muslim men in business and professions) and Nasrul-Lahi-l-Fatih Society (NASFAT).

Others include Al-Mu’minaat (The Believing Women) Organisation, The Muslim Congress (TMC), The Criterion (Association of Muslim Women in Business and the Professions), The Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN) and Ansar -Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria.

The Chief Imam of Lagos State, Sheikh Sulaiman Oluwatoyin Abou-Nolla, congratulated Muslims all over the world on the auspicious occasion of the 2020 Eid Fitr celebration. He urged Muslims to pray for the leadership of the nation and continue to pray for the peace and stability of the country.

“On this special day, we celebrate with the Muslim Ummah and pray that Almighty Allah will accept the acts of worship and restore ultimate peace and harmony in all parts of the country,” he said.

Amir (National Head, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria), Alhaj (Barr.) Alatoye Folorunso Azeez, called on the government; Federal, State and Local to urgently address the concerns of citizens of the country. “No one need to be told that there is tension, indeed, a great tension in the land over what concerns the people.”

The group implored the Government to pay attention to all these social injustice and ills that Ramadhan came to eliminate in the interest of humanity. “We are all human beings before belonging to any group and the sanctity of humanity must be maintained of which JUSTICE AND PEACE are paramount. This is the leading message being related to all world leaders by the worldwide head of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (May Allah be His Holiness Helper) including the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“I pray for a secure country with a good standard of living. I pray that Allah helps us to be able to change our conditions for better to enable us to continue to benefit from the teachings of Ramadhan. Amin.”

The Chief Missioner of Nasru-Lahi-l-Fatih Society (NASFAT) Imam Abdul-Azeez Onike, urged Nigerians to fervently pray for the leadership of the nation at all levels for Allah to direct their affairs so they can diligently discharge their duties and conduct themselves purposefully for the benefits of all.

“ The Holy Prophet (saw) said Everyone is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock and the leader of people is a guardian and is responsible for his subjects.

Onike, asked specifically for prayers for President Muhammadu Buhari, who is the leader of the nation and prayers for other leaders, be it in government, at home, workplace or in the society.

National Amir (President), Alhaji Thabit Wale Sonaike, urged all Muslims to celebrate in moderation and in strict compliance with COVID -19 protocols and regulations as directed by respective authorities.

“ This is very essential for our individual protection and public safety. We must also continue to be generous and show concern for the welfare and well being of fellow Muslims and indeed humanity as a whole.”

Sonaike, implored Muslims in Nigeria and elsewhere to be security conscious and report any suspicious breach to the appropriate authorities. “We must cooperate with the government to return peace and progress to Nigeria and the sub- region as a whole. We as Muslims must also not relent in our prayers for peace and tranquility.

“The government at all levels must also be on the alert as the insecurity scourge pervades the nation. Government must constantly remember that its primary purpose is the welfare and security of citizens. The armed forces must recruit and train fresh personnel to replace the depleted soldiers on account of Boko Haram insurgency.”

The university of Lagos Muslim Community also rejoices with fellow Muslims. Speaking through its Chairman and a former National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Lai Olurode, in a statement, the community commends all Muslims for abstaining from foods and drinks, display of tolerance and withdrawing from idle talks during the period.

The Chairman urges Nigerians to realise that the world itself is in great turmoil and peaceful co-existence is constantly under threat. Yet, no country can be permanently at war with itself and still know peace and development. He said Nigeria’s disintegration will spell doom for even the world at large and would further compound current dismal poverty index in Nigeria and global agonies.

The Governing Council of Daru Da’wah, Isolo, wishes all friends, students and the Muslim Ummah at large a very Happy Eid ul Fitr.

“As we celebrate this year’s Eid in compliance with the sunnah of the prophet Muhammad and as announced by the Supreme Head of muslims in Nigeria, the Sultan of Sokoto, may this pious day bring into your lives new hopes and new dream.

“On this beautiful occasion, may Allah grant joy and love to our hearts,be pleased with us, count us among those He has endowed His blessings on and create all the opportunities of success for us. May He give us all the reasons to make even our lives more beautiful and finally change our lives to stay steadfast on the deen and may the end of this Ramadan be the beginning of another beautiful year for us, ameen.” The council prayed.

The National Amir (President), The Muslim Congress (TMC), Alhaji Abdul Waasii Bangbala, urged Muslims to imbibe the teachings and lessons from the Holy month of Ramadan and continue to pray for peace and tranquility.

“Let us celebrate the ‘Eid in moderation and with caution. Let us provide for the poor amongst us as you endeavour to be your brothers keepers. Let us be security-conscious at all times and ensure that we protect ourselves from the COVID-19 disease that is already receding. But we must ensure we play our dedicated part in ensuring that a third wave does not occur in our country. It is your responsibility as well as mine,” the Amir charged.

President, Ansar -Ud-Deen Society, Dr. Abdul-Rafiu Ademola Sanni enjoined all Muslims to exhibit the virtues of peace, tolerance, integrity, and humility as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Mohammed, (S.A.W.).

“In view of the coronavirus pandemic that is still around us and the attendant physical distancing policy of governments. We should all realise that we need to, at least, be grateful to Allah for the privilege of life and good health to have observed Ramadan fasting because is not by our might that we are able to complete the fasting but by His mercy, Alhamdulillah Robil Alamein.”

He called on governments at all strata in Nigeria to address the issue of insecurity of lives and properties. “ Kidnapping and banditry that has constituted a major challenge to the citizens. I implore be the prayer of every one because the economic hardship is becoming astronomical for citizen to bear and needed urgent attention of government. This may increase unemployment at all levels and social decadency in the society,” he said
