The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Solomon Arase has ordered a detailed investigation into the suspicious death of the young Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Consultant and mother of two, Dr Hestianna Idiodi- Thomas.

According to a statement endorsed by Bar. Ben Odeh, the order was sequel to the petition sent to the IGP, by Concerned Women Voices on November 3rd 2015.

“Dr Idiodi – Thomas, a Consultant Paediatrician was rushed to the hospital by her husband on Tuesday October 13th with fatal injuries sustained in her home. The IGP has assigned the case to the Homicide Dept of Zone 2, Onikan which is in charge of Lagos and Ogun States.

“Concerned Women Voices hereby expresses it’s appreciation to the IGP for approving the petition and making efforts to ensure that the questions being asked by the coalition are answered. Every human life is sacred.

“This is particularly commendable as it is coming a day after the IGP pledged his commitment to enforcing the just enacted Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law which was signed in to law by President Jonathan just before he left office.
