How to nurture Godly children, by scholars

Parents have been urged to secure their children’s minds, hearts, and souls by giving them the right orientation from home through modeling Godliness.

For parents to raise Godly children, they must be people of good character. Children raised in a loving home, by parents with character, typically mimic the virtues demonstrated by their parents.

Speaking during the maiden edition of TAQWA Private Schools Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Ramadan lecture.

The Chairman of (PTA) TAQWA Private School, Alhaji Abdulhafeez Olarewaju said the Ramadan lecture was organize by TAQWA School in conjunction with Parent Teacher Association (PTA) to enrich the parent with knowledge of Islam during the holy month of Ramadan.

He said the two topics to be discussed are interwoven and carefully chosen to educate Muslims on conflict management, resolution and raising righteous children’.

The Chief Imam Nigeria Navy Central Mosque, Navy Town Ojo, Navy Lieutenant, Abdul Hameed Adegoke Dawood said, parents must be people of character if they are going to raise godly children. Children raised in a loving home, by parents with character, typically mimic the virtues demonstrated by their parents.

He said, the orientation giving to each child matters a lot at home. Most home today lack the required orientation of raising godly children. As the saying goes you don’t give what you lack.

“Imagine parent who lack self-control in their speech or who are wayward would produce the same character in their children. They won’t be able to cultivate righteousness in them.

Dawood said that, if parent can first and foremost see their self as mirror, which the children will look at it, it would assist a lot in raising godly child. “Children that come out of decent homes with good orientation will make a safer society,” he said.

He urged government to ensure that parents are giving adequate information in respect of their obligation towards their children. “ Ministry of Orientation must be reintroduced, where different announcement and assertion that are customary would be made. That will go a long way to assist parent on their responsible towards their children assisting the home front and society at large.

Dawood noted that youth unrest is as a result of the prevalence situations in the country, which gravitated as a result of lack of job and lack of security in the country.

He said the government could curb youth unrest by engaging the youths beyond the four walls of the classroom.

Noting that not everybody that goes to school get job and that has been the experience before now “If government can engage the private organization in generating more employments and opening more opportunity for job creations. It will actually help the youth to shun violence, engaging themselves in cultism and kidnapping because cultism and kidnapping is the fastest way to enrich oneself.

He advised the youth to be patient because not all glitters are gold; they have to know that no amount of money they made can actually last them to survive. You can’t buy peace, enjoyment for long, is just a matter of time. Death is approaching and there is another life after this, which is going to be a perpetual one.

Dawood, added that the menace in the country is political and solution to insecurity in the country is for all and sundry to first and foremost know that they hold the populace the responsibility to secure their life and property.

“Whatever their aims in politics or their political ideologies may be, they are to serve people and protect their life and property. If they uphold that as a principle, definitely it will go a long way, in fostering useful environment for us and make things easy for them to govern,” he said.
