Obesity is fast becoming an epidemic all over the world.

Indeed it is a serious health problem in the United States of America and as reported by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 33 per cent of adults and 15 per cent of children and teenagers in America are obese.

Looking at somebody, one can tell whether such a person is overweight or not.

If this is true, I would like to begin to define obesity as a visual sign of something going on in the body.

That being overweight is not healthy is a statement of fact and that being the case, I could therefore define obesity further as a visual sign of an internal system that has gone wrong as a result of an unhealthy lifestyle.

Obesity is a symptom of an underlying disease. The symptom is the excessive weight gain that is easily seen in one who is obese.

There are numerous causes of obesity. One major cause of obesity is dehydration and I have discussed this cause extensively in the past.

Diet is another cause of obesity and the effect of herbal teas on the human body directly deals with the untoward effect of diet in the body.

Herbal teas and other herbal products and vegetables and fruits are trending at this time and I think it is an appropriate time to discuss them.

Obesity is a serious matter. There are some other diseases that accompany it as complications and if nothing is done urgently, those other diseases can become a major problem in the life of the individual affected.

The risk of such diseases as arthritis, diabetes, heart disease and cancer increase in an individual who is obese.

Preventing these other diseases becomes a very good reason why obesity has to be handled with all seriousness.

Introducing herbal teas into an obese person’s diet may not be sufficient to reduce his or her weight.

We should ensure that such a person is having the right diet to begin with.

Not only that, exercise also has to be part of the protocol for an individual that wants to lose weight.

Talking about herbal tea for loss of weight presupposes that the practitioner has a good knowledge of herbal teas.

There are various types of herbal teas, all playing different roles in the body with different modes of action.

In other words, we need a healthy diet and exercise to complement herbal tea to be sure that an obese individual will lose weight.

It is important to stress that in the effort to lose weight with herbal tea, it is not to be used as a drug.

It will have to be incorporated into the diet. A few cups of herbal tea added to the days’ meals.

It is heart warming to note that most, if not all the herbal teas have other health benefits that they can render to the body and while trying to lose Weight the person is also sure of optimal health.

Herbal tea, like most natural products will help you to reach the right weight for your height and weight.

Some of the characteristics and mode of action of herbal tea that help to accomplish adequate weight loss in human beings are as follows: It boosts metabolism.

By this action, fats are in higher demand in the body for energy production and the fat is burned faster.

Also, we know that herbal tea like green tea lowers cholesterol and LDL (bad) cholesterol in particular.

Herbal tea, as part of its health benefits to the body, controls the appetite and helps to cub over-eating and eliminates unnecessary indulging.

Moreover, there are herbal teas that help to detoxify the body.

This is very important because in detoxifying, the herbal tea helps to reduce the acidic and toxic load in the body.

Reduction of the toxins and acid in the body leads to a decrease in the amount of fats cells that would otherwise be produced to store the acid and toxins.

Finally, like I mentioned earlier, herbal teas ensure that other diseases like arthritis, diabetes and heart disease would not occur as complications in obesity.

In next week Thursday’s edition of the Guardian Newspaper, I shall present twelve herbal teas that assist in weight loss.
