Funke Akindele joins Clean Naija hospital visits

In continuation of activities around the Clean Naija initiative, leading health brand, Dettol and its ambassador, Funke Akindele, have embarked on a series of hospital and school visits to educate new moms and children on better health practices.

Funke Akindele-Bello, a new mother herself went to schools and hospitals in Lagos motivating children and women, discussing personal hygiene and how the youngsters and mothers can keep healthy and stay free from bacterial infections with the appropriate use of Dettol.

The Clean Naija campaign, which aims to create awareness, educate and drive behavioral change to achieve a cleaner and healthier Nigeria, enlightens mothers and children through Dettol’s New Mums’ and School Hygiene programs. Responding to questions on the initiative, Brand Manager, Purposeful Marketing, Reckitt Benckiser, Cassandra Uzo-Ogbugh said, “a report by United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) stated that about 150,000 children under the age of five years die annually from Diarrhoea related diseases, which could have easily been prevented. With Dettol’s hygiene education programs, we strongly believe that with sensitization and education on the importance of proper hand and personal hygiene these statistics will be greatly reduced”.

Adding to this, Funke Akindele said, “Our goal is to get 20 million clean hands by the end of the year 2020, and as such, I’d personally champion the promotion of proper personal hygiene in Nigeria. This is possible because, Dettol has products such as the antiseptic liquid, the anti-bacterial soap and hand sanitizer which will be instrumental to the achievement of our mandate.”

Akindele was unveiled as Dettol’s brand ambassador in April 2019 to serve as a role model encouraging Mothers, Children and Nigerians in general to always practice proper hand-washing habits, and personal hygiene in other to achieve healthier homes.
