Group tasks government on adequate security measures

A foremost Islamic organization, The Companion an association of Muslim men in business and professions is set to promote religious and charitable acts in the country by empowering the needy, support the education sector, promote ethical development and enhance brotherly relations among Islamic organizations.

The President of The Companion Alhaji Thabit Sonaike during the organization expanded NEC meeting in Ibadan said, the key interest area of the organisation are empowerment of less privileged, support of the government in the area of education, health sector and train citizen on good ethic and leadership which is major challenge in Nigeria and enhance relationship among Muslim organization.

“ We will put in place good policies, which we are going to send to government to advance the course of education in Nigeria. We will put in place good policy that will support good health care in Nigeria where170 Million people will have access to adequate medical facilities”.

He added that, the unity of the Muslim is very important. “We want to be part of an institution that will unite every Muslims in the country.

Sonaike said, in the last six years, the organization has uphold the importance of Zakat institution because zakat is the only tool that can be use to eradicate poverty in the country. “Members or non members of the organization are enjoined to pay zakat. We will identify beneficiary in line with Quranic injunction and disburse it to them”

We have empowered people with different vocational skills to help them achieve their dreams and we also pay bills of medically challenge people, he said.

Without necessarily waiting for zakat, we have an association called Muslim Welfare Fund where we contribute money in form of monthly subscription to help Muslims who are critically in need of support, equip hospitals with equipment.

The President said the organization is concerned with challenges face by Nigeria Muslims. “We condemned the mosque attack in Adamawa State and beseechs Allah over the departed soul. “What Boko haram is doing is illegal, is unfounded, is not Islamic and we are bold to say that”.

In the area of enforcement of usage of hijab in public places, we sphere head the struggle to make hijab a national identity for Muslim women.

We are always rise to the occasion to make sure we make credence to the fact that Muslim has equal right with the non Muslims particularly in a non secular country like Nigeria.

“A Muslim must be seen to exercise his or her right at any point in time. Even in the area of education particularly employment of Islamic and Arabic teacher.

We have work with various state Government to ensure Islamic and Arabic teachers are employed and send to schools to teach our kids to have the real understanding of what Islam is all about, he said.

He urged the Federal government to intensify more effort on the issues of security and war against corruption. “In Nigeria of today there are so many things government needs to put in place to make our vote count. They need to improve on security and war against corruption is vital. They must not rest until every Nigerian can sleep and close their eyes and be sure they are secure”.

Sonaike advised the government on the need to get closer to citizens to get useful information and the use of technology to track and trap where nefarious activities are taken place. “When they do that am sure every Nigeria will be proud that we have a government that is in support of them by providing adequate security.

The National Publicity Secretary of Companion, Alhaji Kamor Ogunfowora said the organization is set to hold it annual youth camp (DHP) at Iseyin in Oyo State in December.

He said participant at the camp will be engage with educational programme in terms of western, social, moral, ethical and religious wise.
