Ahead of the Child Health and Safety Week summit, an advocacy group, the Movement Against Negligence in Schools (MANIS), has called on government at all levels to formulate and implement laws that would ensure the safety of children and reduce cases of ill health, disabilities and deaths in schools.

The summit, which holds on Friday, November 20, would have officials of the Ministry of Education, medical doctors, safety experts, parents and education stakeholders in attendance.

According to the Executive Director of MANIS, Mrs. Idorenyin Toye-Arulogun, the summit is in furtherance of the organisation’s mission to champion the cause of safer environments, better health management systems and more sensitive care providers in schools, adding that the frequency of injuries, incapacitations, disabilities and deaths owing to negligence is high in Nigerian schools.
