Greensprings School celebrates Christmas with less privileged

Greensprings School, Ikoyi Campus, has presented gifts items to the less-privileged through the Selfaid Capacity Development Initiative.

Head of the School, Dolapo Fatoki, who spoke during the presentation, said the school had reached out to the under-privileged in the society in many ways.

According to her, “I am happy this is a successful project because our pupils were heavily involved from the beginning. What we are doing is not part of the school curriculum, but we created out time to teach empathy and morals to the kids. With the quality of gifts presented today, we are glad we achieved what we set out to achieve.

“Also, we give support to displaced children and we have children from poor background on scholarship here. We have sports and academic scholarship categories. It is our own little way of brightening the corner where we are. As a brand new school, we are going to be doing more charitable work.”

In the same vein, Founder, Selfaid Capacity Development Initiative, Ngozi Eze, said it was an awesome experience extending hands of fellowship to the less-privileged.

“The foundation is all about the widows, their children and orphans. We have four projects, the first one is the fresh start, where we train widows and empower them to start a business to enable them carter for their families. The second one is back to school; we have a lot of kids that are out of school. We seek and get sponsors and scholarships to send some of the poor kids to schools.

“The third one is preventive healthcare where we do basic medical care for them and they get tested for Hepatitis B, Diabetes, Hypertension and Blood Sugar. The last one is feeding the needy, which we do quarterly by going out to the public and feed people on the streets. So far, we are glad we are putting smiles on people’s faces, particularly the widows. ”

A beneficiary, Veronica Ogbu, in her response, said: “I am so excited. I say a very big thank you to Greensprings School for these donations. The foundation has been very helpful to us. They use to give us food but now we are being trained and empowered so that we can be useful to ourselves.”
