Govt to review LagosHOMS project
Determined to ensure that Lagos State Homes Ownership Mortgage Scheme (LagosHOMS) initiative not only succeed, but to also spread across Lagos State, the newly appointed Commissioner for Housing, Mr. Gbolahan Wasiu Lawal – Akapo, last week embarked on the inspection tour to the sites of the project.
The Commissioner, accompanied by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Housing, Mrs. Oluwakemi Muinat Giwanson and the Permanent. Secretary in the ministry visited Omole Estate, Igando, Oko-Oba Chief Anthony Enahoro, in Ikeja, Omole and Magodo respectively.
Reacting to the situation at the scheme’s sites, Gbolahan, while expressing satisfaction with the level of work done so far, said his future plan is to look at the various projects and do the review where necessary.
“We want to start from the immediate past administration stopped, do the necessary appraisal and come up with a strategy to improve on the existing efforts in order to close the housing gap between the high earners and the low income earners. It is our believe that since the high income earners can always build their own houses at will, we need to structure the initiative to meet the lower level and middle class categories.’’
He admonished all the allottees, who have any complain to be calm, saying that this administration is going to address all issues, saying as a caring administration, but still young, “nonetheless, we are ready to put all political will into action by ensuring that affordable housing provision that was part of our electioneering campaign is meet”.
Meanwhile all the projects site visited have all the necessary facilities including Community Hall, generator house, well paved road with inter locked, street lights, laundry mart and refuse house, most of the houses are almost completed especially the Chief Anthony Enahoro Housing Estate, which is almost fully occupied with all necessary facilities functioning.
