FUTO alumni association unveils mentorship scheme
Alumni association of Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), has announced its Mentorship Scheme designed to help reduce unemployment.
Briefing journalists on the scheme, the fifth President of the association, Mr. Elochukwu Austin Okeke, said the association initiated the scheme in order to encourage students at FUTO and others to showcase to the world the achievements of the institution.
He said alumni are partnering the authorities of the institution led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Chigozie Asiabaka, on the project.
He listed some graduates of the institution who have excelled in various parts of the world to among others include President of a Division of General Electrics, Uwen Ukpong, Prof. Ndubuisi Ekekwe, who patented about 12 products, including Ovim tablet used during the centenary celebrations in the country, MultiChoice Managing Director, Mr. John Ugbe and the First Nigerian Managing Director of Halliburton Energy Services, Mr. Henri Oki.
