Sultan lauds FOMWAN over mosque project

President, Nigeria Supreme Council for Affairs and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, applauded the Federation of Muslims Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) for the laudable Mosque project.

President, Nigeria Supreme Council for Affairs and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, applauded the Federation of Muslims Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) for the laudable Mosque project.

At the official commissioning of the FOMWAN Masjid located in Utako District Abuja the Sultan commended Alhaji Aliko Dangote and other well-meaning Nigerians for donating generously toward the completion of the Mosque.

The sultan who was represented by the Emir of Keffi HRH Alhaji Shehu Shindo Yamusa while commissioning the FOMWAN Masjid urged every Muslims to continue supporting projects that will uplift Islam. The National Amira of the FOMWAN, Hajia Halima Jibril urged Muslims in the country to put their trust in Almighty Allah no matter the situation.

She said the various supports received towards the construction of the Masjid clearly shows that “Allah’s help is so near”, that Allah can use some members of the Ummah to actualize His plan.

“The Masjid construction, started five years back. The edifice is built to connect Muslim Ummah spiritually with Allah, help society in teachings and learning of Islam, community bonding for peaceful co-existence, Da’awah activities, cultural awareness as well as inclusive education for children, youths and women.
The Masjid is constructed to impact positively in the lives of Muslims Ummah as well as other faithful”.

The former National Amirah of FOMWAN and the Chairperson of Masjid Project Committee, Hajia Maryam Idris Othman said the Masjid project began in 2012. She said the project was threatened severally through pressures, warning letters and even stop work order from FCDA due to what they refereed to as lost of FOMWAN file for building approval.

Othman said the final push toward the Masjid completion was made when the immediate past FOMWAN National Amira, Hajia Amina Omoti led a delegation to Alhaji Aliko Dangote with a request to complete the project. Alhaji Dangote who directed his team to instantly take over the project from then till completion favourably granted the request.
