Practical antidote Nigeria needs to regain glory, by cleric
The Founder of Lutful-lahi International, Sheikh Robiu Abdul Malik Adebayo, who made this call during a special Asalatu prayer to mark his 81st birthday, said: “Our leaders must nurture ethics and integrity for the economy to grow. Leaders must be God fearing and follow the dictate of Allah and abstain from act of corruption for the economy to move out of recession.”
He saluted the government’s effort in the fight against corruption and warned against the risk of losing focus.“A situation where ex-convicts and confirmed treasury looters are being celebrated is a matter of grave concern. To sustain confidence in the war against corruption, government must not be selective and must ensure offenders are properly prosecuted and punished. Corrupt Nigerians do not understand the harm they are causing to other citizen.”
He appealed to lawmakers, especially at the Senate to pay attention to matters that would improve and impact positively on the welfare of the citizens who are presently bearing the yoke of the economic recession and want of basic necessities of life like food, portable water, power and shelter, adding that the Senate should be less sensitive about criticisms.
The cleric added that for the country to be out of recession, religious leaders must support the political leaders at the helms of affairs with prayer and advise to move the country forward.
“Religious leaders must re-affirm the truth and exercise their leadership and engage with diplomatic initiatives, to bring about cessation of violence against humanity and work to confront and end religious extremism in all its forms.”
He urged the government to take corrective step to improve the economy and create jobs for millions of unemployed youths on the street for Nigeria to be out of the lingering economic recession.
Chief Executive Officer, Starco Insurance, Alhaji Sakiru Oyefeso, described Sheikh Abdulmalik Adebayo has “God fearing, full of wisdom, and fearless religious leader despite his old age, he his very active.”
Alhaji Ganiu Alimson commended the effort of Sheikh Abdul Malik in the propagation of Islam from his tender age. “He is a father to all his followers, his life is like a book we read everyday.”
