NASFAT urges government to facilitate health care delivery

Nasrul lahi-l-Faith Society of Nigeria (NASFAT), Women Wing has advocated for a more robust health care delivery in Lagos State and its environs.

Nasrul lahi-l-Faith Society of Nigeria (NASFAT), Women Wing has advocated for a more robust health care delivery in Lagos State and its environs.The group made this call during a free medical screening organized as part of the activities of its fourth Biennial Conference, which started yesterday in Lagos.

Speaking during the free medical screening at the palace of Olu of Agege kindom, NASFAT Zone II Women Secretary, Alhaja Risiqat Oriloye, said the free medical screening was part of corporate social responsibility in the line with the mission statement of NASFAT.

During the exercise, the group offered free high blood pressure test, blood sugar test and also enlightened participants on how to take care of their health. Oriloye urged Lagos State government to create more health centers in Agege and it’s environs, noting that experts estimates showed that over 50 per cent of the people screened have high blood pressure and they are not aware.Rtd. Chief Nursing Officer, Alhaja Ganiyat Idris, advised Nigerians to go for regular medical checkup, saying that ‘health is wealth’.

“People should endeavor to go for checkup, they should not wait till their health status become complicated before seeking medical care” she said.She advised beneficiaries of the free screening to ensure they take enough rest and desist from taking alcohol and hard drugs.

Meanwhile, NASFAT has invited academic scholars to train its schools’ teachers and secretaries on leadership and capacity building methodology.The fourth yearly Education Week is scheduled for 21st to 28th April 2019.

Facilitators from higher institutions of learning are billed to take the participants through various ways of developing their skills, gaining control of the class and carrying every student along in the class. The Lead Speaker, Prof. Femi Saibu of Department of Economics of the University of Lagos will be speaking on the main theme of the week ‘Education, Tool for Sustainable Growth and Development’.

The Education Secretary NASFAT, Dr. Rahmat Adetutu Adisa said that as part of the celebration, her team would visit selected juvenile centers in Nigeria and donate gift items and other useful materials to the homes.Students from both public and private schools will also be participating in Quranic and quiz competitions; and they shall be tested on Mathematics, English Language, Quantitative & Verbal Reasoning, Knowledge of Computer and general knowledge. The schools shall also partake in project exhibition where they will display projects speaking to the main theme.
