Firm to debut ‘School Fees Made Easy’ in January
Bothered by the routine expulsion of pupils from classrooms by school authorities over their parents’ inability to settle their school fees on time, and in a bid to help eradicate poverty in the society through education, a firm, First Education Zenith Limited, has come up with “School Fees Made Easy” project.
The project entails the firm settling the school fees of affected pupils on behalf of their parents, thereby giving the parents ample time to raise the funds, which they have to re-pay in three installments, within a particular term. Every amount paid by the firm on behalf of the parents attracts a 20 per cent interest rate.
The pilot phase of the project, which the promoters described as a “self-selling product that parents would love,” begins next month in four locations- Ikorodu, Mushin, Shohola and Iwaya, Yaba area of Lagos State.
Twenty students from each of the four schools in the four locations are expected to benefit from the pilot phase. After running for two terms, the project would be extended to Akute, Ikotun, Ayobo, Iyana Ipaja as well as other parts of the state before states like Ogun and Oyo have a taste of it.
Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the outfit, Yekini Kolawole Ajany, and Deputy Managing Director/Chief Operating Officer (COO), while on a visit to Rutam House, corporate home of The Guardian, said they were persuaded to delve into the project as a way of helping parents keep the education of their children on track, thereby contributing to the country’s educational development.
“ Our project is strategised to provide relief as well as assist the schools, parents and guardians/sponsors as regards payment of school fees, and towards building a sustainable educational career for their children thereby ensuring a secured and better future,” Ajany stated.
Shedding some light on how the project would work, the CEO said, “We will start this project fully two to three weeks after resumption next term, when students whose parents cannot pay their schools fees would be thrown out of school because we do not want a situation where prospective presidents and ministers will be thrown out of school and their dreams shattered.
On why the firm was embarking on the project, he explained, “The company has decided to do this because it wants to ensure that the country has a lot of leaders. Today, education has turned out to be the best way to achieve set goals in life. We are in a world where citizens have begun to appreciate the essence of education. We also hope to, through this project, rescue children whose parents have the funds to pay for their educational bills, but decline taking that step because the funds are to be ploughed into ventures/investments that would bring about profit.”
