Firm poised to recognize role of lawyers in nation building

ESQ Legal Blitz, an indigenous firm that promotes lawyering in Nigeria, said it is determined to continue to recognize the effort of lawyers who make remarkable contribution to the development and growth of Nigerian businesses and ultimately the economy.

The firm said it would also recognize Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) that serve as role models to budding lawyers.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of this year’s edition, the firms legal award, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ESQ Legal Blitz, Lere Fashola said lawyers are always at the back stage playing critical role in every commercial venture, adding that without them, a lot of organization may not survive or exist in the first place.

He said: “The relevance of lawyers are huge, from conceptualization to decision to even structuring of deeds. Lawyers advises in terms of regulatory compliance, saving companies huge revenue from common errors that could have cost them billions of naira.”

According to him, the award is based on an online poll conducted on the various social media platforms through www.surveymonkey.com.

Also, he noted that there would be a competition for law students, which would commemorate with the award and it will go in two stages.

“The winner of the Essay Competition shall be awarded with scholarship worth ₦450,000 to attend ESQ Legal Trainings, free subscription to ESQ Legal Practice Magazine, a profile in ESQ Legal Practice Magazine, free invite to the 2017 awards plus two guests, a cash prize of ₦50,000 and an award at the 2017 ESQ Nigerian Legal Awards.

“First runner-up gets a scholarship worth ₦300,000 to attend ESQ Legal Training, free subscription to ESQ Legal Practice Magazine, a profile in ESQ Legal Practice Magazine, free invite to 2017 Awards plus one guest and a cash prize of ₦25,000.

Second runner-up also gets a scholarship worth ₦150,000 to attend ESQ Legal Trainings, free subscription to ESQ Legal Practice Magazine, a profile in ESQ Legal Practice Magazine, free invite to the 2017 Awards plus one guest and a cash prize of ₦10,000,” he said.
