Academics have charged school proprietors and administrators to ensure quality standard in their operations at their different learning centres while educating children.

The charge was made during boot camp training for school proprietors, owners and administrators, organised by Academix, a non-governmental organisation centred on quality education delivery.

Head of curriculum at Ave Cenna School, who is also a school quality strategist with Academix, Chiazor Chukwulobe, said the theme of the boot camp stemmed out of the lack of quality in the nation’s educational system.

She said the training was aimed at supporting the school proprietors and administrators in order to guide and teach them how to effectively run their schools so they can achieve better results in the next school year.

Chiazor lamented that most school owners, administrators and teachers are not conversant with the labour laws, which is a prerequisite to a good foundation in setting up education centres for children.

Chief Executive Officer, Team masters, Rotimi Eyitayo said it was necessary to bring educators from different levels within the school space together, to talk and address the issue of quality in schools, which he said, is used to rate the standard of the country’s education system.

Eyitayo said the various dimensions of quality could be in service, infrastructure, learning and re-learning experience, outcome, manpower and policies among others, which he said are the things that make up a good or great school.

“We recognise that there are schools at different grade levels, but one thing that is a common denominator to all schools is quality. So, whether you are a school that is elitist or low income based, education is meant to be of standard. Bringing up a quality camp for schools is quite timely and one of the things we realised is that we are able to address the reason why we should have quality in schools,” he added.

One of the trainers at the boot camp, Nkolika Onyejianya lamented the state of Federal Government colleges.
